Bassel Khartabil (aka Bassel Safadi) is a Palestinian-Syrian software engineer and celebrated internet volunteer. On March 15, 2012, Bassel was detained amid arrests in the Mazzeh district of Damascus.Since then, no one - including his family and wife-to-be - has received an official explanation as to why he's being held. It is imperative that Bassel be released not just for the future of Syria, but also the future of the Internet.
