Report from the Internet Forum on definitions of legality and illegality organised by Oleg Kyreev and the Ghetto crew in Moscow, October 2002
 
Dear friends!
 
Open parliament "legal/illegal", a Net-based project which functioned during a week's time, from 14th to 20th of October, has finished its work. During these days at: www.op-pa.ru, the project's website, issues of prohibition or legalization were discussed. The topics included: illegal immigrants, abortions, Internet copyright and marijuana...
 
Several experts participated in the discussions, among them were the project organizers and invitee experts, including cyber-art theoretician and Singapore university professor Irina Aristarkhova, medical worker Regina Stolyarova, web theoretician Mikhail Verbitsky, Moscow Helsinki Group representative and human rights activist Valery Nikolsky. An online presentation of "Lufthansa - deportation class" and "Kein Mensch ist illegal" campaigns (German) was held. There were also published and discussed several documents of Radical Party concerning its petition campaign for legalization of marijuana, Geert Lovink's interview "Send Putin a joint", Dmitry Gajduk's texts, zAiBI group manifest, Oleg Kireev's and "mailgetto" project articles. An online presentation of social and political posters was also held, featuring works by Alexei Kallima, the SVOI 2000 movement, Alexey Varsopko and other artists, social groups and organizations.
 
The project's resolutions on issues of legalization/prohibition of illegal immigrants, abortions, Net copyright and marijuana will remain at the website, accompanied by a voting poll on these subjects. Materials of discussions are to be published in the form of a newspaper.
