This video was constructed using original software, "EG Serene". The software manipulation of video in real-time is applied to a work from the informal archives of media activist and artist, Julie Zando-Dennis. "EG Serene software applied to Clinic Defense Rehearsal" takes a slice of time from the original video recording that documents preparations for the defense of women's healthcare and abortion clinics in Buffalo, New York. The Buffalo women's clinics were under assault by national anti-abortion forces during the spring of 1992. The structural algorithm of EG Serene software enables perceptual patterns to emerge out of the incremental alternation of two halves of a bisected video. Both mid-point and duration for the two alternating segments can be manipulated dynamically.
