The corporate globalisation process on the US-Mexican border, the so-called 'new' Mexico, is contrasted with the traditional Mayan civilization in Chiapas. Since the uprising of the Zapatistas, Chiapas is constantly disturbed by motorized army convoys that trespass on Indian villages.
