Best of International Competition (35mm) (89'30'')

This selection of films from the International Competition gives viewers an impression of the wealth of ideas and visual power found in short film production all over the world today. While Matthias Müller and Michel Wenzer are certainly experimental highlights, the short fiction film also stands out with original approaches and artfully staged stories, many of which offer plenty of food for thought. For example, when Andrea Arnold cunningly scrutinizes our moralistic ideas of what constitutes a bad mother, or when Duane Hopkins deliberately leaves gaps in the affectionate feelings developing between two youths. Here is great cinema in miniature just waiting to be discovered.
