Dit blok met het beste van de korte film dagen in Oberhausen vertelt verhalen over het verleden, heden en de toekomst. En-passant worden relaties meeslepend blootgelegd. In 7 films en 86 minuten leren wij wat het verleden en de overlevering ons te bieden heeft.

Wilson (Ireland, 2007, 8’) Om haar jeugd te kunnen waarborgen keert de oude dame van Bearra iedere tien jaar terug naar het water. Ãgtux (Telling Stories) R: T Anaya (Brasil, 2006, 22’) De Maxakali indianen zijn zeer bedreven in traditionele ambachten, kunst en muziek. Door kapitalistiche ogen gezien hebben zij een miserabel bestaan, maar dan wordt voorbij gegaan aan de culturele rijkdom. Kempinski R: N. Beloufa (France, 2007, 15’) Welkom in Kempinski, een mythische plek, waar de bevolking over de toekomst praat alsof deze zich vandaag voltrekt. John and Karen R: M. Walker (Great Britain, 2007, 4’) John de ijsbeer verontschuldigt zich bij Karen de pinquïn voor een meningsverschil. De vrede wordt beklonken met een kopje thee en en biscuitje. Parlez-moi d’amour (Tell Me About Love) R: A. Bonta (Belgium, 2007, 14’) Twee dames slijten hun laatste dagen in een ziekenhuiskamer. Deze ervaringsdeskundigen vertellen ons hun verhaal over de liefde. A Journey Across Grandmother R: M. Bisineer (Great Britain, 2005, 6’) In een dromerige animatie ondernemen wij een reis rond grootmoeder, die de relatie tussen oma en kleindochter blootlegt. Care R: C.Faith (Great Britain, 2006, 19’) Mali bezoekt kwestbare oudjes en bidet hen de verzorging die zij nodig hebben. Maar zijn nieuwe client Archie zit eigenlijk niet op Mali te wachten, en al helemaal niet op zijn bemoeizucht. --- This line-up features some of the most interesting, in some cases award-winning, works from the last two International Competitions. Stories from the past, present and future are told, and relationships compellingly portrayed.The Irish animated film about an ancient legend, “An Cailleach Bhéarra”, is followed by “Ägtux”, which looks at the everyday lives of Brazil’s indigenous peoples, revealing their underappreciated cultural wealth. Neil Beloufa’s “Kempinski” tells of how the denizens of a mystical land envision the future. The past is then the focus in the award-winning “Parlez-moi d’amour”, in which Alexia Bontia films two old women talking about love. Love and affection are also the emotions evoked by a girl’s relationship with her grandmother in “A Journey Across Grandmother”. “Care” portrays a caregiver working for a nursing service who comes to realize that his help is not always wanted. A programme that ponders all that we can learn from the past.
