A Rough Guide to Belgrade: Belgrade Art Scene
Author: redactie redactie

It is presented in the form of micro-sections and small stories that tackle the grand narratives of ideology, modernity, and contemporary art. It does not purport to become yet another geopolitical exhibit based upon the discourses of ‘sameness’ and ‘otherness’. Quite the opposite, the context of multiculturalism and the identity-based concept of culture become the frameworks in which displayed artworks intervene and to which they refer from the very outset.

Program schedule:
*Intro: Kneel down, move your lips in prayer, and you will believe!
- Vladimir Nikolic: Rhythm, 2001; Media: Video installation; 10'45''

*Part 1: Back to the Future
- Association Apsolutno, Absolutely Dead, 1995, 7' 15''
- David Maljkovic, Scene for New Heritage I, 2004, 6'
- David Maljkovic, Scene for New Heritage II (Second Coming), 2005, 4' 53"
- Goran Devic, Imported Crows, 22' * Tv Break: Fiction is what makes reality more interesting than fiction!
- Milena Maksimovic, 23 2 76, 2001, 7' 50"

* Part 2: Lazy Artists
- Vera Vecanski & Vladimir Nikolic, How to Become Great Artist, 2001, 9'10''
- Jakup Ferri, Jakup come back, 2003, 1'45''
- Lulzim Zeqiri, Heroes, 2003, 3'40'' - Zsolt Kovacs & Nikoleta Markovic, Choose Life, 2001, 24'

* Sign out: Screaming Fields of Sonic Life
- Luka Toyboy, sound performance - live, ca. 30'

*** Introductions and comments before and during by Jelena Vesic ***

Jelena Vesic (b.1974) Curator and Art Critic based in Belgrade Graduated from Art History Department, Faculty of Philosophy, Belgrade.
