Natália Mazotte is a Brazilian journalist from Rio de Janeiro with a background in social and technological issues related to the creation and sharing of knowledge. She writes for the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, of Texas University, and works for a Brazilian NGO named Ibase. She is a researcher and fellow in the Graduate Programme of Culture and Communication of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
The FCForum is an international arena in wich to build and coordinate action around issues related to free/libre culture and access to knowledge.The FCForum brings together key organizations and active voices in the spheres of free/libre culture and knowledge, and provides a meeting point where we can find answers to the pressing questions behind the current paradigm shift.
ReadPatrice Riemens (born 1950) is a geographer and currently the Fellow of the Waag Society in Amsterdam. He is a promoter of Open Knowledge and Free Software, and has been involved as a "FLOSSopher" (a 'philosopher' of the Free/Libre and Open Source Software movements) at the Asia Source and Africa Source camps, held in 2005 and 2006 to promote FLOSS among non-governmental organisations. He is a member of the staff of Multitudes.
ReadMatteo Pasquinelli is a writer, curator and researcher. He completed
his doctorate at Queen Mary University of London with a thesis on the
new forms of conflict within knowledge economy and cognitive
capitalism. He wrote the book Animal Spirits: A Bestiary of the Commons (2008) and edited the collections Media Activism (2002) and C'Lick Me: A Netporn Studies Reader (2007). He writes and lectures frequently at the intersection of French philosophy, media culture and Italian post-operaismo.
Opening on 22 June 2024 at Framer Framed, the exhibition Really? Art and Knowledge in Time of Crisis highlights the ways in which the scientific disciplines – historically associated with truth-telling – are increasingly used by cynical actors of big corporations and rogue governments alike to obscure, mislead and effectively capitalise and weaponise ignorance. The exhibition is curated by David Garcia and Mi You.
On Sunday September 29 the exhibition Really? Art and Knowledge in Time of Crisis concludes with a series of interlocked conversations that explore how artists address the erosion of trust in knowledge and the rise of disinformation, through their investigative and critical practices.

Mi You is a curator and a professor of Art and Economies at the University of Kassel / documenta Institut. Her academic interests lie in new and historical materialism and performance philosophy, as well as the history, political theory and philosophy of Eurasia. She also leads research on alternative value systems, the social value of art and ideological regroupings in art and culture. Previously, she was a research associate at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (2014-2021), where she explored the use of Silk Roads as a figuration for anti-nationalist, de-centralised and nomadic imageries.

Xnet is an activist project working in fields related to digital rights and democracy: freedom of expression; net neutrality; privacy; the free circulation of culture, knowledge and information; mechanisms for transparency, participation and citizen control of power and institutions; the defense of citizen journalism for the right to know, inform and be informed; the technical, communications and legal fight against corruption; and the technopolitics understood as the practice of networking and taking action for citizen empowerment, justice and social transformation.
Simona Levi is a multidisciplinary artist born in Italy and established in Barcelona since 1990. She is the Director of Conservas, a cultural activity centre. Since 2000, she has directed the arts festival INn MOTION which takes place at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of the city of Barcelona. She is an outstanding activist in European social movements in the area of free circulation of knowledge and the right to housing. She is also involved in several artistic and activist platforms. She is co-founder of EXGAE, a civil organization that defends from the abuses of the cultural industry trade groups.
Micha Cárdenas is a Lecturer in the Visual Arts Department and Critical Gender Studies Program at University of California San Diego (USCD), a transgender performance and new media artist and theorist. She is a researcher at the Experimental Game Lab at CRCA and at CalIT2. Her work deals with the interplay of technology, gender, sex and biopolitics. She currently lives and works in San Diego and Los Angeles.
ReadCandida TV was born from the melting of different realities: underground cinema, video production, rave parties, street theaters, independent radios, underground bulletin board systems on the net and counterculture pop-magazines in the last seven years in Rome.

As new technologies make it possible to move more information faster than ever before, we are dazzled by the millions of gigabytes that move across the world in nanoseconds. We are infatuated by bandwidth, digital television by gadgets and gizmos. Yet we hardly ask questions about the quality of the information: what is it that we are communicating? Is it relevant? Will it make the world a better place? And does all this information add up to knowledge?
